There are a couple of paragraphs in the "2.2/2.5 FWD" book put out by Mopar.
It looks outlined with enough info for a good machinist to get it done right.

Agreed...make sure the head and block mating surfaces are both as true as can be and be done with it.

O-ringing your block seriously limits your choice in head-gaskets...trust me I know.

You can get by just fine without or-ringing as proven by several of the HI-HP cars on this board.

I agree. The cometic gasket is the way to go. They can handle extremly high amounts of boost without leaking

No need for a cometic on an 8v engine... Not what I'd put on mine...

MP gaskets are strong enough for anything you can throw at it basically.

Why is it, the 16v guys all run and tell the 8v's to use cometic?? With stock head bolts, I've seen a NON-Oringed 8v with an MP gasket make 50+ passes at over 460 wtq.

I like having the fuse in case something goes wrong.

FWIW... same person lifted gasket after gasker when he had a block that WAS o-ringed.

So lemme ask Ken. How do you *reverse* the o-ringing process? Welding and then resurface back to flat?

I o-ringed a block. As a matter of fact it is sitting in my computer room. It is slated for my Über motor, but as time goes on that engine is being all reconfigured in my head . Unfortunatly I have most of the bottom end parts! I can't sell any of them except the rods(they are for a Chevy SB, but I only have 4!) because they are all custom . I don't know what I'm going to do. Maybe build this bottom end as an 8V and stick it in the van and just start from scratch....arrrggghhh, but all that takes money...something I lack at the moment .

Second that. Headgaskets are easy/cheap to replace compared to the alternatives...
