just make sure that when you run the vehicle after you torque them down that you go back in under a week for a retorque (dunno if you guys support it, ive been under some pretty good teachers and mechanics and this is where i get it from..i end up doing 2 retorques (5 days and 2 weeks) and needless to say ive never head one go bad or had a head lift off yet...(maybe i should run a whole lot more boost )

If its a street motor and you have the head off once a year, new headbolts isn't exactly going to break the bank, if its a race motor and you have the head off every week, then maybe reuse....but at that point you've probably already studded it and are re-studding it ever season or two anyway. I've seen people reuse torque to yeild bolts before and not have any problems, but i've had a friend just try it once, and first time down the track he popped 3 headbolts off.....and i definatly wouldn't re-yeild them the 2nd time becuase they're perminantly streatched after the first yeild (not to say there isn't a little more le-way left. New bolts is cheap insurance.

P.S. Anyone seen graphs for clamping force vs. bolt torque and the yeild margin, after that tell me you can reuse them .

I also noticed something kinda funny, the thread is on torque to yield bolts (which stretch when you yeild them) and the thread started is none other than Stretch

Coinsidance? I think not...

Careful. It was an ARP rod bolt that let go and caused Relentless to explode on the dyno. This picture shows the offending fastener's failure:

I am a firm believer in once the bolt is torqued at the factory, don't even touch it, check it or anything unless you're replacing parts. Very few of us can duplicate factory torque as perfectly as they do, its a fine balance between clamping force and bolt strength....if theres no need to take it apart, don't take it apart just to check a clearance, its fine, caps don't always go on exactly how they were, especially flat ones, cracked rods are a little different, but they scary for a performance app

Well, some bolts are torqued to achieve a given clamping force while other's to keep from getting shook loose. Either way, a bolt manufacturers product has to meet the spec's for it's given application .... otherwise it's useless.

Having the seat adjusted just right. I would say I have maybe 1 to 2 inches of head room.

I let him borrow my tempo once cause i was fixing his car....he had to recline the seat all the way and sit on the seatback to drive it, it was quite amusing to see, he said it was still better than walking
