Hello all....

I need to know the bore size of the new 2.4L turbo engine in inches...

Also, I need to know the stroke length in inches or mm...

Also, what is the rod length in inches???

What are the specs on a 2.5L engine? for these same part dimensions?

Thanks!!!

thinking about doing sumpin'

Bore -- 3.44 (87.5)
Stroke -- 3.98 (101)
Bore-to-stroke ratio -- 0.87
Block length -- 16.43 (417.3)
Block height -- 9.36 (237.8)
Rod length -- 5.94 (151)
Connecting rod L/R -- 2.99
This is for the n/a engine but it is the same for the turbo form what I have heard.

Since the 2.5 common block is the same as the 2.2 then it has
Bore 3.44in 87.5mm
Stroke 4.09in 104.0mm
Deck height 237.8mm
Center to center distance for rods is 151.0mm

For info regarding the 2.4 turbo http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/e...rt/index1.html

For some more info on the 2.4 turbo
http://www.allpar.com/mopar/24.html

I hope this helps you out.

YES!!!... I had forgot where to get the specs from and was wondering... looks like the only difference then is the stroke is .110 longer on the 2.5L versus the 2.4L....

4.09 vs. 3.98 = .110

151.oo mm rod is 5.94 inches long.... so that is the same and the bore sizes are the same...

I wonder, what is the deck height of the 2.4L engines pistons? (how low do they sit in the bore below the edge when at TDC? )

Most factory pistons are .050 below the deck usually anways, so I am wondering if I couldn't just destroke the crank about .040 off the stroke side, and then use 1mm undersize bearings.... I dunno....

THANKS!!!

Ummm, no. You need the manuals anyways, unless you have a photographic memory?

If you are thinking about makeing a hybrid then 2.4 with 2.5 rods and pistons then check out http://home.bellsouth.net/p/s/commun...upid=45129&ck=
and the 2.4 PT pistons at TDC is short of the deck by .240".
you can find that info at http://www.bstockum.com/
I hope that helped.

I would like to amend that last bit. http://www.bstockum.com/ also lists the pistons being short of the deck at .30" Humm needs to be double-checked.
