2.5-2.2 with no electronics change?

Well since I cannot really push a 2.5. I am thinking of just going with an 89 2.2 T-2 block. Is there any way that I could just drop in a 2.2 long block and not have to change electronics? Also is it possible to run 300 WHP on stock 2.2 T-2 internals? I'm sure it is, look at gary's old daytona. Thanks for any help in advance.

You can run a 2.2 on 2.5 electronics, but you will run rich. If you have an AFPR you could drop the base pressure to compensate for the lack of displacement. Timing on the 2.5 cal is also a bit tamer. What car is this going in?

It will be going into a 1990 Daytona shelby. I already have a super 60, TU fuel rail, +40's, TU universal AFPR, and large spearco. I am going to get a lot more stuff that I know I need and that I just want to get for more power. Will the stock T-2 internals handle the 300 WHP reliably?

You bought all these other parts, but you won't spend $180 on a proper calibration, and/or can't find the right computer in the junkyard?

Spend a few bucks and do it right.

custom 3-bar cal if your looking for 300hp. i ran a 2.2 on 2.5 electronics once, worked fine after tuning fuel press down as mentioned earlier.
i would go with a custom cal. from TU. just my $.02
