Did i make a mistake for buying these rods?

Okay the rods came from forward motion inc. and they are .215 inches longer than stock unfortunately i'm a newbie to the turbo dodges and am not sure if they are heavier than the turbo II rods. Forward Motion does say that the longer rod improves the rod ratio and allows the use of a lighter wieght piston. It also says that it requires the JE forged pistons which i have already obtained. There has to be somebody out they're that has used this setup before right? Sadly the main reason i bought them is because forward motion claims they are good to 600hp, which i know thats a little overkill being our stock heads don't flow worth a crap. Okay well i really appreciate the input thanx

I'd call Forward Motion and ask them which piston is supposed to be used.

I seem to remember an old post about a long rod kit that used a piston with a higher pin height so they could use the longer rod. My memory is kind of hazy but I think it was a 2.5 piston, the longer rods and a 2.2 crank. Someone else may be able to confirm this.

without getting in to the math a longer rod would help how it helps is mainly a reduction in side loading the piston skirt .215 is not going to get you much and lighter wieght in these low rpm turbo motors won't make a whole lot of differance . in my opin propabaly not worth the investment a t2 rod with arp bolts would be more than adaquate and if you haven't bought your pistons yet I have really not been overly impresed with JEs vionolla's are just as good if not better and cost less

just my .02

FWIW.. Oliver Billet rod's are some of the best on the market.. Period!.. if i didn't require a custom piston other than the venolia's i have for my TIII.. i'd own me a set.. even if i had to save for a extra 6 months!
