Hey guys,
I just went with another member to look at some old circle track racers parts.
The guy had a get this, 2.7 liter (actually 2680 cc) Chrysler 2.2 stroked short block motor.
Custom billet crank, Carillo rods, dry sump pan, DC strong early style block, billet main caps, ARP studs on head and mains, etc. It made supposedly a bit over 300 horse on the dyno. Not impressed? Ahh, that was without a turbo!!!It was built for a N/A application. It had I believe 12.5 to one compression.
The guys also had two big valve g-heads one milled extensively and one milled about .030.
If you got to have it, it IS available as a package. Not cheap! Put it this way, the crank alone set the guy back $2700 dollars! Then figure in the dry sump pan, the block, the Carillo rods, custom made JE pistons, couple hundred for the ARP hardware, etc. Email me privately and I will forward you a contact and more info.

the 2.7 stroker has been out for a while in the neon community, granted a few people have this, but it is avaliable.... scott mohler (neon all motor car) is running a very big 2.6999999 almost 2.7 which is avaliable in a street version with a lot smaller cams, and less power, but still avaliable.

Do you know the exact bore size and stroke? A 2.5 has a 4.09'' stroke, already insanely long. Lets put it this way, the longest stroke from a small block chevy is 3.75'' in the 400 CID.

the 2.5s rod ratio is already sub-optimal, wouldnt a 2.7 have even a worse rod ratio?

what a torquey engine that would be. Thats actually kind of cool. Doesn't strike me as particularly practical, but cool.

Last time I checked I thought the 2.5 common block had a 3.95 stroke?
No, I don't know actual stroke, but rod length I believe was 6.500", the pistons are either .050 or .060 over. In the race blocks there is still lots of meat left over. I am putting together another similiar blocked motor and at .060 over, after sonic testing, there is more thickness left than std. bore production blocks in some cases. BTW the motor I'm putiing together has 4 bolt billet mains! Chrysler had some strange stuff out there.

I guess the key word here is common block not tall block.

Same stroke there big guy. The rods were just longer.

http://www.thedodgegarage.com/turbo_shortblock.html

go to the ''crankshafts and bearings'' section, the stroke is given in MM and thats why I didn't post this link first. Compare to minimopar, 104mm stroke...same.
