I have heard of it, but what is the point & how do you or how frequently do you use it?

I work at a diesel shop and our local customers that use it say that they notice nice results as far as cooler oil temps, less engine noise, better fuel economy. There is also a fuel treatment.

Tearing down a motor with that in it right now. ... pretty sticky stuff. It's almost like bar & chain oil sticky. The only thing about this stuff I'm wondering is does it caramelizes. The pistons have this goo covering them that isn't just carbon. Like a mix of this lucas and carbon. Burnt sugar looks like this.

I throw some in if I'm working on a beater. Totally eliminated nasty valvetrain noises in my g/f's 2.8 GM

every oil change. in my rig which is cummins isx 600 which holds approx 12 gallons of oil, i run it about 25% lucas 75% 15w40 shell rotella t motor oil. at about 16000 to 19000 mile drain intervalls oil still doesnt looked thinned out. in cars i usually use a quart of lucas and also run the same oil in my cars. i figure if that oil runs big engines with big turbos for a million miles, it cant be to bad for my cars.

Read this:
http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/images/lucas/lucas.htm

Lucas may quiet a noisy valvetrain, but so will sawdust.
I haven't found any oil additive that's better than just plain old Mobil 1 synthetic.

Scary.. but I wonder if the test took into account viscosity/density changes when the oil reaches operating temperature? (I'm an oil n00b, so I'm probably not understanding)

Ive used it before. It does what it says, it will quite engines, and it will stop leaks.

But I have only used it in vehicles that I dont care about to much (ie beaters). After reading articles on www.bobistheoilguy.com, and other places, I wont use it in a vehicle I care about.

This is just my .02, I run a full bottle of Lucas in my Rampage motor and bag the living crap out of that car (usually full RPM shifts) and have over 3k on my last oil change (even had lucas before in it) and the oil is spottless and hasen't even used any oil! until i see an actual engine/tranny/rearend blown up over this aditive i would stop using it. Other then that my Rampage engine is happy with it and i will still use it in my little 2.2. I am even using it in my rebuilt A555 tranny because that stuff sticks to all the gears/bearing like glue. But this is just my opinion on this.

Wow,

That article shows that Lucas Oil makes more air in the oil.

I'ved used it before in my beater Omni, when I was a pizza delivery driver and the difference was night and day.
