It looks like I am going to have to bore my 88 common block 2.2, what should I use for pistons. Keep in mind that I will be using all stock internals, and pretty much keeping thw whole engine stock.

Prices, and where can I find them?

If you can get the Mahles in the size you need, they are a very good piston and they are priced good as well. FWDP has some at 281-288-4411

89 & up are Common Blocks. Do you have a block off plate? What kind of car do you have? 88T1 Rods are crappy. Upgrade to T2 rods or True CB rods. They are beefier. If you got the cash go Wiesco Forged pistons w/ T2 rods and stock crank. You will be good for some serious HP!

If you are doing a block, might as well go forged. I would get .020" oversized if your block can be machined for it. I would avoid odd sized like .010" and .030" as rings must usually be adopted to fit.

If you can afford it go forged, however they are 3 times as much. I just went with the Mahles. I have however already cracked one and had to replace it but this only happens if you try to run 22 PSI with the stock swirl head (which had been milled atleast twice) on pump gas . Now that I'm running a G head it's back to 22 PSI .

Yes, that is the price. Availability is why TU now handles them. Before, each was a special order and took 4-6 weeks to get. Now Chris stocks them on hand in the more common sizes. Both 2.2 and 2.5L. Prior to last year, to get pistons rings pins and keepers was about 550-600 total.

The Wiseco's with rings are now roughly twice the price of stockers and good rings. That pays for the headgasket, fluids, replacement pistons, rings, and most importantly TIME caused by just 1 Mahle cracking and having to be replaced.
