Hey guys, just ordered a set for my van. There not that expensive either, they sell for $230, and I paid $150 for reg rings a few months ago. They are 2-3 weeks away but big deal, putting parts together slowly.

Anyhow, the guy that used them and had oil burning issues, did he figure that out and anyone else used them?
I can't pass over less than 2% leakdown for the life of the engine, yippee

Nice to know, but you gotta remember, with exchange, shipping etc, will work out close to the same plus any issues, I can drive over to the store and get help. Thanks though!

I use Total seal gapless, that 2% leakdown claim is true. and the oil burning issue is FALSE. Just follow Total Seal instructions exactly (bore finish, hone type, and lube procedure, etc.) Ive used them on NA engines with good results also. Warren

Yeah, I know, I have seen back to back dyno and leakdown tests, they rock.
Thanks for the additional info.

Forged JE's. I am only running 12psi now, just waiting my cal so I can go to 20 psi, then in the summer, we'll see what she can put out, I want low 13's.

I run them, they work good, but you need to be anal about following their recommendations and install instructions. They create so much vacuum that you might have issue with valve guides leaking and thus oil burning on decel, I do a bit. Another, you're going to have to play with the PCV system, since they like to have the least amount of crankcase pressure under them to help seal better. When I swapped to forged pistons, I accidently mixed up the rings, but still used them and I get a 5% leakdown instead.....oh shucks!! Oh, and since you're at sea level, you idle vacuum will be like 20 or better

Oh shucks, only 5%, lol,

Yeah, can't wait to get this shortblock together then no more bottom end issues, yay!

Sweet, over 20 inches at idle, that will be neat to see.

I ran the gapless ring the first time I built my 2.2L. I gapped them per Total Seal's specs. Never had any oil burning issues what so ever. I checked my compression, and I was surprised to see ~180-185 psi across the board.

FWIW, I used Total Seal's regular rings the 2nd time around, and I have about 170-175 psi on all cylinders now.

On both ring styles times, I have approx. 19-20" Hg vac. at idle, and ~24-25" on decel.
