when should arp rod bolts be used.... i was told that when you install rod bolts you should get the rods reconditioned cause it might take them "out of round"... im planning on running a TU dual boost setup 15 and 20 psi... wiseco .020s etc etc.... 275-300 whp... i was just wondering if anyone knew about a set amont of what the stock rod bolts in a t-2 could hold... i know the rods are strong... but are the bolts equally as good?

go to arp anytime the motor is apart. lol definitly at 300hp.
the bolts are cheap and doesnt cost much at the shop to have them installed and checked.
at 20 psi, i would even go to arp head studs, for the extra clamping force.

Yes, anytime you remove rod bolts from a rod and reinstall them they WILL change the dimension of the big end of the rod. So don't even remove them unless you plan on changing them and resizing the rod. And by all means if you are rebuilding a engine for high performance install the best bolts you can buy. And let your machinest install them as there are some tricks to doing it right. Use a rod bolt strech gauge to tighten them during assembly.......Warren

I'd say for the few extra bucks, ARP rod bolts are a good choice when making 300 hp. You can even go with Dodge 318/340/360 ARP rod bolts as they are the same as our 2.2/2.5 motors. And you'll have a spare set.
