I'm building a 2.2 CB, and plan on useing Venolia .040 pistons, but I'm not sure what rod to use...T2 or Eagle? I plan on making approx. 350-400hp. Any suggestions?

t2, and use the money you would have spent on the eagles to get a larger turbo or tu header

well, I dont have any rods yet, so I'll have to either spend $200 on T2's w/ ARP's or Forward Motion has Eagle rods for $350, I figured there's only $150 difference for some added strength. How much do tubular headers go for? the only one I've seen was like $900!! I dont think that would be worth it.

I just sold my SS Camaro, so I have the csh in hand to build this car. I'm on somewhat of a budget, but I dont want to have to worry about this stuff later just to save a few bucks now. Which companies are making the tube headers?

I'm planning on getting a Hybrid Turbo from Cindy, just not sure on the specs yet.

The T2 rods are more than adequate for you. Don't waste your money on the eagle rods. 85 and earlier rods will work for you also. Just as beefy.

468 ft lbs on 100% bone stock TII rods... how much more power do you need. For insurance, I had mine polished and peened (look like H beams). Aluminum rods stretch... they will need to be replaced.

you may be able to find them cheaper and have them resized for arp's at a good shop. check the for sale section here, and e-bay.

turbosunleashed has a nice tubular for 550. it re-locates the turbo farther to the drivers side to help the larger hybrid turbos clear the head. its "almost" a must for running a true t4 compressor cover. which you'll need if your talking 350-400 whp......(for a long period of time)

do lots of research and pricing before you spend a dime, and plan it out. and then research some more. lol and ask lots of questions.
im on the same path now....i still need to order my pistons and turbo. unfourtanately, ill be cramming it through a stock head, ill do what i can without hurting it, but a properly ported one will be in the near future...thats why i bought arp head studs

Also, aluminum rods are not recommended for street use, they get brittle with age and break. As stated, the stock TII rods are fine.

+3 on this one. I got my T2 rods w/ Arp bolts in the for sale section for $90 shipped. They were done by a machine shop and the guy didn't use them. His loss my gain!

On turbos...Chris at TU has a 2 year warranty on his turbos. Might want to compare and look into that option also. He has hybrids and such. FWD Performance and Turbos Unleashed are great venders. I would start at those two and then go to FM as a last result...at least from my personal dealings!

I couldn't stop laughing when I read that post.
I only bought one thing from FM. It was a block, "88" turbo II. Took a month to get it to my house. When I opened the box, they had the block in the box and they poured in styrofoam (sp) "bits" I will call it. Not the regular peanuts that cling to you finger but something a little more stiffer. The kicker...... They didn't even wrap the block up so that none of the styrofoam "bits" would get into the oil and water passages. I couldn't believe my eyes. Luckily the shop that I used were able to get all of it out (I think).
The lessons we learn.
