KORETH's thread encouraged to start over with this block.
I have a local shop that deals w 5-Star, and swears by them.
If I bought a shortblock from them, it would be about $800 vs 6-700 DIY.
Not sure which way to go, or who does rebuils near VA..

Do you get to choose common or uncommon block? Heavy or lightweight rods? Forged or cast crank (not that that matters), piston brand (obviously not forged at that price, but there are some halfway decent cast pistons, and some scary bad ones..)? I think it's worth doing yourself..

I was told that it would be "identicle" in make to the one I send out.
The local shop stated that they check the old block well, and send the same.
I believe I have an '88 T-2 block, according to the 5-bolt crank pully.
I can only hope they send the same. That thought scares me.
