Forged crank not needed in any application for 2.2/2.5's. The LW rods can still take some abuse, in a light car they can handle 225 WHP no problem. Some people have done 250. I wouldn't bother with it.

would you consider a lancer a light car? and if im going to need forged pistons to run high boost somewhat reliably wouldnt it make sense to just go ahead and get the tII forged rods along with the pistons?

About in the middle. With a stock T2 conversion, 2.5'' exhuast, and up to 14 PSI you are barely gonna break 200 WHP...you will be fine for now.
Of course if you go forged pistons you want T2 rods. But, you do not just throw a set of forged pistons in a used block with 100K+ miles on it. Take it to the machine shop and they will machine the correct clearances to assure proper installation.

Might as well but the crank is heavier than cast. The rods are good but the pistons are cast also!

I heard that for T1 Block, a forged crank is good, while if you have a CB then forged crank is bad because it is uneccessary weight, and the block is already strong.

It's kinda half and half. With a forged crank you put more load on the main caps. With a cast crank the crank itself might flex. I chose to go with a cast crank for the faster rev's because either way if you make enough power the flex is going to happen whether it's at the main caps or crank. Might as well have the faster rev's with it.

LOL. Well Joe O'conner used an 87' T2 block and cast T1 crank at 373 WHP, although he did have aluminum rods and forged pistons but still I'm gonna be pushing 300 and I'm not worried.
I would not put any significant power to a T1 block (beside CB's). I believe T1 and T2 blocks are not the same, as minimopar states. Most people believe the T1 and T2 non-cb blocks are the same but too many times have people made big power on a T2 block but break T1 blocks at the same power level. Too much of a coicidence there for me.

What kind of power can an 87 T1 block actually take?

I'm converting my 87 2.2 T1 to T2 status I was going to go with cast pistons and hopefully some T2 rods and a stock replacement crank, I only plan on running 12~14psi at the most intercooled.

I'm going to be using a remanufactured Turbo 2 with a ceramic coated exhaust housing.

What kind of hp/torque do you think this will provide and should my block be able to handle it?

You aren't going to go much over 200 with a stockish setup like that. Nowhere near the breaking point of any component, yet alone the block. You'll be fine with what you've got.

Yeah that is good - I was aiming to go beyond stock but not near the breaking point. I want power but I also want good reliability.
