I figured as long as I have the botton end of my engine appart I might as weel replace the oil pump, after all it's been running 140,000 miles. So I call the dealer and get a quote of $140! Then later while at autozone I'm talking to the guy and he has a Melling for $50. Is there so much of a difference between the two that the stock is $90 dollars better? Basically which should I get?

I would not hesitate to buy a decent name aftermarket pump. Some things are better to use the dealer but not in this case (in my opinion anyway).

A Melling Oil Pump is fine if not great to use.

Theres only a few pump manufacterers so a dealer pump is probably a melling or ? so buy away.
While you have the new pump on the counter, install Mopars spring kit, #P3690944
Gives you a bit more pressure, works awesome!

Pull the cotter pin ... thread a self taping screw into the plug behind the pin so you can pull it out.
Lift out the spring .... don't turn the pump over until you realise that there is a valve behind the spring and how it sits. You'll want to remove that to clean it incase you got some shavings from the old plug on it.

Put the valve back and insert the new spring. Tap in the new plug and replace the cotter pin.
