My standard crank has enough miles on it that it can stand a slight tightening up, but not enough to regrind.

How many miles do you have on it to be .001 undersize from wear? I just plastigauged a new set of std rod bearings on my 108kmile crank at/just a hair under .001".

It's oversize with pistons because you make the cylinder bigger. With crank journals you grind them smaller.

It's only got 50,000 on it, but it has had one slightly undersize journal from the beginning that I put a .001" undersize on to even things up. I mentioned the wear issue as a generic answer because that would be the usual reason
