I have a 1994 2.2 TBI engine that i am converting to a turbo block and building for a base model omni shell (can anyone say sleeper?) and i was wondering if i can put the 16v head on my tbi block and if not is there anyone who can tell me if there is a difference between 2.2 and 2.5 heads?

Thanks,
Justin

The heads are the same. You can run the 16V setup if you like.

You have to change the pistons. I'd recommend using T II rods also. Expect to pay big time for a T III head, intake, exhaust maniflod, turbo (different than other TDs), injector rail, throttle body, valve covers, rockers, etc, etc. Even after you amass all these parts, there is still the issue of the intake manifold occupying the same space normally used by the distributor (T IIIs are DIS coil pack ignition systems for this reason). HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT AND HOW MUCH YOU WILLING TO PAY?!? I have all those parts and am planning such a conversion on my '84 Rampage so I've done some homework on the subject already.

I seriously recommend going with a standard TI or TII turbo set-up. The Omni is so incredibly light weight that that should be more power than the "sleeper" tires can handle.

i want a nice flowing head and preferrably a 16 valve because of the flow characteristics

Are you thinking of the hybrid DOHC setup of a TIII setup? We have a hybrid section, putting the 2.0/2.4 dohc head on the 2.2/2.5. Here is a good page with info on the SOHC heads. http://www.thedodgegarage.com/turbo_heads.html
