what they do is tape off whatever doesn't need to be coated, charge and spray the item then carefully peel off the tape/masking. just like painters do with painters tape.

the valve cover is differant depending on the individual/customer. mine is ceramic and black wrinkle. they ceramic powdered the chrysler turbo and the ribs, baked it, and polished off the letters and ribs to look like chrome. then they charged and powdered the whole thing in wrinkle black then wiped off the letters abd ribs leaving the polished ceramic showing and baked it.

or to make it easier on them and to keep the stock look, just PC it all wrinkle black and have them grind the ribs and lettering.

Personally, if you want the block looking way nicer then the other TD parked next to you at next years shows. Smooth the block, at least the front. That way the Power Coat, paint, etc. Will dry with a smooth, clean serface and will show just like your paint on the car. Seen some engines done like this and WOW, what a difference.
