My question is I want to run 14psi on my car but IM kind of scared to do so........ I mean I did all the mods to boost to 14psi but just do have the courage to do so.
My 88 lebaron turbo has an a-413 (upgrade tranny and stage 2 torque converter) 2.2L stock internals engine and intercooled (daytona intercooler) Bigger injectors and fuel pump Etc....But my most concern is the stock internals and the automatic tranny IM scared im going to blow them at boost.

Thanks

14psi is almost stock. As long as your intercooled, it's a no brainer. Wake me up when you buy a 3bar map sensor and start goin towards 20.

I can't see you having too much trouble at those levels to be honest. Your rods are a little weak (as per info from thedodgegarage.com) but 14psi really isn't anything too crazy.

If you were to do anything serious though, I'd definately recommend a common block, and some T2 or 2.5 T1 rods. In addition some forged pistons and all the other fun/pricey goodies :-)

You didn't mention anything about a A/F gauge. I would definately be using this on a T1 computer that has a intercooler with 14PSI.

if that is the original motor, don't beat on it too hard. The rods in it are light weight rods and the rod caps like to give way.. if you can find a TII engine or any 89^ engine you'd be set, those motors had forged rods. The LW rod motors even throw rods at stock boost levels. I have one in my garage that is a boat anchor/ashtray with only 65K miles, block, crank, rods, bores all junk.. save yourself the frustration.

I ran a 14.9 with lightweight rods and no intercooler. Less rotating mass = more horsepower to the ground.

Hella light Omni. Daily driven at alot less boost, price of gas is insane right now. And 14psi without an intercooler on the street with pump gas is DUMB..

As long as your intercooled youre fine. We've blown up TWO 2.5 TI's bc we ran 14psi non-intercooled. You should be fine, hell I even plan to up the boost to about 16 or 17psi on my stock 2.5 TI internals... just stay out of detonation.

Yeah...I beat the hell out of my non-common block 2.2 with 18 PSI and no intercooler for over a year before I had trouble.
A little over a month total with a 2.5, 13 PSI and Garrett was enough to do in the 2.5.....detonation sucks..

i say if you have an af guage and know your car isnt leaning out at boost, get your foot on the gas and hit 14 shit go to 16, if you break anything fix it and continue, thats how you build a bullet proof car. i was running 19 psi for a while and the worse thing thathappened to me was excessive smoke from my turbo- which has long since been tossed. check out the ecus at www.fwdperformance.com

your motor will retire before your turbo does.. What everyone is not understanding, is that in 1988 all TI cars had WEAK LW rods...... These cars DID NOT push anywhere close to 14psi.....the rods can't handle it, if they could, they would be used in TII motors.... Now, a TII or common block should..

Get yourself a cheap common block motor or TII motor and rebuild that for future use.. you'll need it if you run 14psi in a HEAVY car like a lebaron with your current motor.....
