Can you use 2.0 Neon pistons in a 2.2 8V?

I would have to say no. The compression height is different and the valve pocket location and depth is also different. Diameter would be OK if honed to the 2.0L specs, but the rest is way off. You also have to take into consideration the difference in the 2.0L rod length, deck height and stroke.... again all different. It would be cheaper to just make a custom piston to match your set up.

Thanks a lot for your response. A friend of mine had some forged 2.0 pistons he was wanting to get rid of and he was practically wanted to give them to me, that's why I asked.

My 2.5L hybrid project has Neon 2.0 pistons and custom aluminum rods. The rods are the conversion part. They are the proper length and fit the .865 pins on the Neon pistons.

Are those pistons custom made? because the stock pin bore for a 2.0L is .827" and if so is there any other mods done to the ring lands or compression distance?

What length rod did you end up with?

Thanks,

-Mike
