when adding wire tha a a/f gauge wire does it need to be anything special, or just the same size....

Power wire from the gauge or the wire that connects to the O2 sensor?

It really doesnt matter all that much. It doesnt take much I Have 18AWG to my 02 sensor and 18gauge for power wire.
Make sure you connect the ground to either a very good ground or directly to the negative terminal for the most accurate measurements

I used 20 or 22 guage on mine. Make sure everything soldered where possible. I used inputs right from the logic module in my car to connect the 3 wires.
