hehe.. Today on my lunch break (1 hour) I converted my Horizon from SMEC to SBEC.. hehehe.. I pulled the pins out of the SMEC plug one at a time and put them into the SBEC connector. Built a new injector harness to support the sequential injector firing (I used the more modern 90's plastic injector plugs.. I LIKE those things!). Took some troubleshooting when I got done to realize the power board used to supply power to the coil on the ASD relay (logic board supplied ground to the coil.. Weird). I simply tied that to the big blue ignition lead. Also handy having a scan tool when dealing with a SBEC car, as you can't just clear the codes by unplugging the computer. And the check engine light wouldn't go out till I reset the maintenance reminder with the scan tool.. heh..
Anyways, the car runs great still. Hard to tell if the idle is smoother with the sequential injection, because it's got such bad wrist pin knock that it sounds like a diesel at idle.. haha..

You tha man, Brian. I've been working on my smec conversion for a long ass time now. And it still doesn't run!

My newest idea was to cut all the wires that have nothing to do with the car starting/running, like headlights and such, and get them out of the way so i can focus on the important stuff....like ignition.

Ouch.. Goin race only or something? You know, even race only, I've been told quite a few times to turn on my headlights at the track when it starts to get dark...
I do automotive electrical for a living, so I've got quite a bit of experience doing these sorts of things. Really came in handy troubleshooting the ASD and building a new injector harness..

Actually, I'm just trying to get the start issues out of the way and then i'll reconnect all the lights and crap. Those i'm not too worried about.

My last attempt at getting the damn thing running resulted in the fuel pump turning on when the blinkers were engaged.

Sigh...man. It's just been so damned long since i started this project, i'm having a hard time remembering where i left off, and what parts i'm using.

Man, I'd have you come over and wire my 86 Daytona Turbo Z for a T2 if you weren't so far away! Awesome Brian!

Mmm, 86 is super easy.. Stay with the LM setup and run a GLHS T2 module.. Only have to add two AIS wires to the LM plugs and run them up to the AIS.. Can even convert your '86 T1 module into a T2 module..

See, that was easy for you to think of, but I'm only fair with automotive wiring, far from pro! Right now I'm just focusing on getting my new motor built, to drop in, and I figured having it set up at that time to be a T2 would be best
