I have an 87 omni glh clone, it has a 90 omni gas tank with a 87 csx turbo fuel pump.

The questions is: Do I need a way to vent the tank?

The vent tube that comes off the top of the tank had been disconnected and I just plugged the end of the hose. Is this going to build too much pressure inside of the tank, does it matter if it is not vented. Someone please help

Brother ........ listen to me here..The vapor issue happend to me once,, I had the vent hose pinched by accident,, and wow the pressure was wicka. This problem could dent your gas tank inward quite badly from the pressure ....Put a new rollover valve in the the tank and run new vacuum hose to your charcol canister, when the engine is running it will draw the vapors into it and reroute them to be burned off throughout the combustion chamber, when the engine is off the vapors get stored in the said canister. The only other way that I know is to find a vented gas cap..good luck with that tho, I could never find one here in Canada anyhow..Good Luck with the clone

cool..you should still have the small diameter steel line that came factory there somewhere to run a vacuum hose to from the rollover..it will be with the gas lines along the fuel rail......

Look what I found on www.autozone.com

CST Gas Cap for a 1987 Dodge Omni
Pressure relief vented fuel cap
#6819 $7.99

This seems like the easiest fix.
