I have an ’86 Daytona Turbo Z with the 2.2 Turbo & Digital Dash. I need to replace my Speed Distance Sensor. The ’86 Parts Book says that the OEM Speed Sensor is part # 4312032. Ebay has one that is Part # 4720069.
1. Will this Part # 4720069 fit my application?
2. What modifications are required to make Part # 4720069 work properly?
3. Should I stick with a direct OE replacement for the part # 4312032?
4. I know I get an exact replacement from AutoZone Advance Napa & O'reilly Auto Parts Stores, etc. but is the upgrade really beneficial?

I have read http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/speedsensor.html for the upgrade.

Other threads here reference Ebay Sellers with Speed Sensors but the Ebay links no longer work so I can compare them;
would this speed/distance sensor fit?
Speed/Distance sensor - difference in years?
NOS Parts

This speed Sensor is on Ebay for $13.99 but it is Part # 4720069 (Tomco #31017).

from what i remember, your car should have the electronic speed sensor with the two wire connector in it. that one on ebay has the one for the two wire connector and a speedometer cable.

It has the speedo 'cable' out of the center with the 2 wire pigtail & 'flat' connetor. In '86 it had the cable out of the center of the sensor even with a stock digital dash.

For picture, scroll down to #6 on the page and you will see a picture of my sensor there in the red box.
speed sensor or speedo cable???

that sensor will work but, it has a newer style plug. If you buy one from a dealer or auto parts it comes with a jumper wire that plugs into your old wiring then plugs into the sensor. In other words a sensor with your plug you can no longer get, you have to get one that comes with the jumper wire.

These Speed Sensors from an auto parts store usually come with one round & one flat pig-tail connector. Not to sure what was meant when you said I can no longer get it though.
