So i've had a new head put on my 89 2.5L T1. I've also had a walbro 255 put in. The mechanic said that it started and run fine with the stock pump. Then installed the walbro, started and ran fine. Went to start it a day later and it took some time to start it. After starting, lot's of black crap came out that back. So, he thinks that it's flodding or running lean or something. He thinks the pump is pushing to much fuel. But, wouldn't the O2 sesor and computer fix all that? The injectors are stock. Any info is great!

Thanks,
Chris

The fuel pump wont change the pressure at all.The only thing the walbro 255 is to do is insure the fuel will be there at hi horsepower and high boost. You might have a couple of leakey injectors

Hmmm, that's what i said. But he said that he didn't think so because this wasn't happening before the pump... I think i'm just going to take her for a drive and see what happens.

If there are 1 or more leaky injectors, how do i tell? I have some spares that i could throw on and i also have some other injectors that look a little different. They have a longer nipple on them and they came with my S60. So, got any ideas???

Thanks,

Chris

well take out the fuel rail with everything still connected have a friend turn the car on run postion ans see how they spray out but make sure you have acouple of rags or paper towels handy to catch all the gas.another thing is to check vac lines to.let me know how the injectors spray.the s60 injectors might not work for your car so go to your local junkyard and im pretty sure you can put some in your pocket

Thanks,

Chris

It suppose to shoot out gas so the engine will start.

What is your fuel pressure?

By the way, 2.5L T1, TII, TIII, TIV all uses the same injectors.

All 4 should spray fuel on key-on. If one didn't, you may have a dead or stuck injector, or maybe just a bad connection at that injector.

I've seen this before (in my car!). If one injector fails, the O2 sensor will read lean (since the engine is only getting 75% of the fuel it should), making the other 3 cylinders as rich as they can go.

Check the plugs, too. If the plugs on the 3 cylinders that had fuel are black and sooty, but the one without fuel is clean, then it's a good bet that injector is dead - for whatever reason.

The injectors in my engine look like the nipple is shorter then the other ones i have (part # 4418258). Will this matter???

And fuel pressure i havent yet rigged up a fuel gauge.

Also with the injectors, should they mist or just water gun the gas out?

Wait... I never cracked the engine. Just turned the key to on. So, let the fuel line's charge. Is the injector suspose to shoot then or just when i'm cranking?

No, the injectors fire at key-on (before cranking) to "prime" the engine.
