My original post was "Do I need a way to vent the tank? The vent tube that comes off the top of the tank had been disconnected and I just plugged the end of the hose. Is this going to build too much pressure inside of the tank, does it matter if it is not vented.

I ended up finding a vented gas cap...the problem is it has a sort of button valve thing on it. It allows the cap to suck air in from outside (for when the car is running and using gas). But it does not allow pressure to be let out or released from the tank. I noticed this the other day, the car had been sitting for a week or so without running, I pushed the button down and heard a lot of air come rushing out of the tank.

Is this a problem?

Yes, the problem is the vapor cannister sys is not connected...and the vent line that comes off the tank has been plugged...so I take it your thought is that the pressure is a problem?

Yes, thats a problem. It could build up enough pressure to blow lines, cause driveability issues or even blow the tank and catch fire.

I would assume that the vapor canister has been chucked (thats what i do). Put a simple filter on the vent line (a short section of larger pipe stuffed with a small wad of oiled steel wool will do) or run it to the airbox or some other pre-turbo piping.
