yea there are options in the software to change between leading and trailing.. i *should* have been able to get it to run based on everything id read, i just couldnt get it to for whatever reason. i was running msnse on a v3 board.
i degreed my whole flywheel, had the right advance angle calculated.. checked it 20 times in every possible configuration i could come up with and the car just would not run.. i tried everything i could possibly come up with, was all over the boards.. no one could figure it out. local guys with megasquirt in their stuff couldnt figure it out..
gave up, said screw it, spent 20 minutes modding the distributor, stuck it in the car set the timing and the bitch fired up like factory and i was driving it daily from that point on. all of the software advance controls worked great from that point forward
i cannot explain why i couldnt get it to work by adjusting things in software.. trust me, i know it SHOULD have worked, but it wouldnt. everything else went almost too smoothly.. the whole install was basically cake, no problems whatsoever the whole time.. just that huge frustration at the end.. the feeling when it finally fired up and ran great was pretty damn nice

ahh, ok, i see what you mean. i know what that frusteration is like, i spent 2 semesters and half a summer trying to get my motor to run off of the stock distributor to no avail. i tried every dizzy mod i could find, and nothing worked. i finally gave up and went EDIS and had her running in a matter of days. now that was a nice feeling ill tell ya .
but IMHO, adding EDIS to a MS is REALLY simple, and will work for me until i ether run into a limiter on the EDIS or the router board gets put out for MS. did you take a look at my install of the EDIS? i barely welded anything, just used some scrap steel and angle iron to make the mount point.
but in any case, your up and running and any help for others would be a boon. The more experiences and information we can add to the MSing a 3.0 idea the better off we will all be.
so, hows she running now with the MS? have to pass emissions or anything yet?

With MS1 or MS2, any chance you can post your dizzy settings?

yea the edis thing was always in the back of my mind, i just had all winter to play with it so i figured i may as well try to do it off the dizzy since i never really heard of anyone doing it that way.. everyone always seemed to go the edis route. something about the thought of trying to weld that toothed wheel on perfectly just smelled like a pain in the ass to me lol
as far as how it all worked out, it was running pretty damn nicely until i got a little overzealous at the track last summer and melted a piston lol.. i moved afterwards and ended up parting everything out.. sucked. ive been saving some extra loot here and there lately so hopefully i can build another omni for this summer
and.. no emissions in indiana lucky for me. i dont think my open downpipe would have ever passed lol

ahh, thats too bad, GL on the new omni. As for welding that wheel on, a keen eye and a tack weld fit and you can adjust from there. EDIS has some loose tolerances when it comes to the toothed wheel and sensor. hope you get another monster going soon

I don't think you'll ever get to the Limiter on an EDIS, I belive someone has (on the bench) taken an edis-4 to 10 grand an edis-6 to 8-10 grand and the edis8 to 8000 rpm respectivly, BTW did you know some edis 4 modules are Multi-spark ?
I have a PA IM dyno at the shop that just sits and has a gas anaylizer in it (duh) the Test is 15 Mph in second on the dyno with a 15% load to get it to PASS. I basically tune 6 cells. if i stay between the 14.1 and 15.9 mph speed window.
Passes like a new car !!

Any EDIS has multi-spark, and its not just 2 strikes, its as many as EDIS can fit in the calculated time. the limiter is a ghost depending on the EDIS module so i hear.
i hope i can tune it to pass emissions quickly

I'm no authority on edis by far , but i have a bench setup w/ 2 coil packs and a modified Module connector so i can check them for spark out put before I sell them on Ebay, and the scope only shows single strikes from the edis modules 4/6/8 , I remember reading on the MS fourms about a software/hardware patch involving the IDM wire from the module from the MS.
something about sending a specific uSEC pulse to the module before startup to enable Multi-strike in the module.

yeah, i got a little ways into the docs , got over my head REAL fast. but i do understand IN & OUT signals which made EDIS a real sinch for myself , and BTW I welded my trigger ring on the lower puller of my 2.2 8v motor. I used 1/8 flat stock spaced 60' apart as mounting tabs .
that Powerd metal crap they make em out of sucks to weld to.
PS. Newest MS Project is Microsquirting a Raptor Quad.
