OK. I'm at the next step in bringing my 85 Omni GLH back to life. Right now I'm focusing on the fuel system. The car was originally the 85 carbureted H.O then someone did a 87 2.2 Turbo swap in from a Shelby Z before I got the car. I replaced all wiring under hood and dash in the omni with an original 88 Shelby Z harness, now the wiring that is going to the fuel pump has the original plug-ins found on the Daytona. So, I need some guidance to make sure my plan (described below) is correct and everything will work.

Tank:
I want to replace the gas tank for a two reasons. One being that it is dented and I believe the carburated gas tanks differ slightly in sending unit design and venting compared with the newer TBI omni gas tanks is this correct? Also, All I can find are 86-89 TBI tanks for (non turbo's) ??? What's the difference? I plan on purchasing a tank of an 87-89 Omni TBI.

Sending unit.
The original sending unit looks to be a poorly custom made retro-fit . I plan on purchasing a new sending unit for a 87-89 Omni F.I. I'm hoping the plug-ins are the same between Daytona and Omni, if not, I can re-wire.

Fuel Pump:
I plan on purchasing a pump for the Shelby Z or better and install it into the omni Sending unit.

Fuel lines:
What are the sizes of the supply/return lines on a Shelby Z? 5/16 and 1/4? or 3/8 and 5/16?

Sound good? Let me know. Thanks!!!!

The Daytona has a seperate sending unit from it's fuel pump unit. So the wiring is different. The Omni combines the two. Yes, you'll want a TBI tank, it's got internal baffling to keep fuel around the pump in turns. The carbureted fuel line sizes are the same as the turbo. 5/16" feed, and 1/4" return.
Why not just order a Walbro 255 universal pump?
Hope that answers all your questions. I've done this conversion a couple times. No big deal.

Thanks man. Yeah, you preety much answered my q's. I'm considering a Walbro, but I can't seem to find a new TBI sending unit for an omni or a charger. I might just end up purchasing a complete pump/sending unit for a 87 charger.
