I just got my Shelby started for the first time this year, and cyl. #3 won't fire. I've checked for spark, it's fine. When I pull the plug, it's dry, so I know it's not getting any fuel. I pulled the injector, cleaned it with some spray cleaner. I've put cleaner in the tank and ran it a lot. Nothing yet. I've hooked up power to the injector from the battery, and it clicks. I noticed some green corrosion on the connector and terminals. I tried to clean as much of it off as possible, but it still misfires. I guess I could pull the whole rail again with the injectors intact, turn it over and see if anything comes out of that demon injector, but I'm afraid nothing will and it will be a waste of time. Any suggestions would be very helpful, as I'm going nuts trying to figure this problem out. Thanks.

Try cleaning the contacts on the inj. and the inj. harness.

I cleaned quite a bit off of the injector contacts already, but it's kinda hard to clean it off the connector contacts. Should I use baking soda & water or cut an emery board to fit into the connector? There's a lot of green corrosion in there. I thought I had cleaned it well enough before I posted, but maybe not.

That sounds like it should work fine. Just do one or the other and if it needs more try a different approach. It should only take a few minutes. Let us know what you find out.

I cleaned all that I could out of the connector and off the injector... still no go. I think when I can find my multimeter I'll check for continuity between the big connector and the one on the injector. If all else fails, maybe I'll have to replace the pigtail. I hope not, though. I'm having enough wiring problems with the taillights right now to have to solder something else. It's been sittn since '99, well, at least since I've owned it. I think it's more like since '92, but I don't know. I hope to drive it soon, since that's what cars are for.

I might have a extra one laying around if it looks like you need one.

Buy a set of "Noid Lights" for $20.00.
Light plugs into Injector Connector,Crank or Start Engine.
No Light = No Power
Light On Steady = Power but No Ground (Controller Drive Circuit)
Light Flashes = Electrical Circuit OK
You may also be able to use a Logic Probe,These all use LEDS,a Test Light that uses a Bulb will not Flash properly.
To properly check Injector Operation you need a Fuel Pressure Gauge and Injector Tester to Trigger the Injector and check Fuel Flow and Pressure Drop.
You can always swap the suspect Injector with one from another Cylinder and see if the Misfire moves with it.

well, it's running on all four now. I think it was a combination of corrosion and varnish/crud in the injector. thanks for your help
