I don't care what my base timing is at, I set my timing so my total advance is 36° at 3000+ rpm. which in most cases comes out to being approx 15° base timing

im gonna assume most of the guys out there are running at 12.

how "dangerous" is it to run it at 14?

14 degrees might be okay for some cars and might not work with others. I believe you increase the chances of detonation. How dangerous well if you're running lots of boost you could crack a piston if you detonate, if you have forged pistons then you should be okay to try it.
