You can do it in car, I did mine that way. You will however get metal chips into the exhaust manifold, but it never hut my turbo. I removed the airbox and all turbo hoses. You will be drilling your hole on the #4 cylinder (driver side). It should not be too difficult to drill out once the hoses and airbox are out of the way. Go about an inch and a half away from the head or about the middle of the manifold runner. Then drill away. I used a tap to thread the hole I made for my probe setup, that was a bit tricky, but still not too bad. Good luck.
