i got it to idle at 975 its alittle on 1000 but its idling fine for now ill seen tomorrow

it idles alittle high now i checked for hose leaks and i didnt find and i did my dist timing and i think i timed it to high sometimes when i hit high rpms like around 4000 it studers real quick then it keeps going but i cant check now because we have 60 mph wind and rain out here so ill check when i can.

When you checked the Ingition timing, Did you have the temp sensor disconnected? That it the electrical connector that is right on the side of the Thermostat box. It must be disconnected to accurately set the timing to 12 deg. BTC.
But, it sounds like you at least have it drivable. With a Automatic, it's not good to drive it too long with a high idle. It will roast the Torque converter & clutches.

well right now it idles high when its cold and when i drive it idles around 1000 and i goes up and down alittle but its now to bad and the car runs right again.
