well if the ecm goes into "limp-in" mode then it wont let the engine go over 2000 rpm. its kinda hard to understand your post. are there any codes?

sorry about my post i had to do it quick i was running late for work. But I don't have anything to diagnose my car i don't know what to buy so i can do it? But I was driving from Vegas to fairfield cali and when i hit barstow I stoped at a stop light and it did it once and then it was fine. Then i got gas and kept goingthen between barstow and bakerfield theres a big ass mountain and everything was going fine untill i got to the other side and i stop to use the restroom then i turned on my car and it wouldn't go over 2000 and that was 3 days ago but now if i ease it over 2500 i can drive it like nothing ever happened but when i stop it does it i think it mite be one of my vac hoses. Because my pcv hose the little 90* from the valve cover is hard as a rock and one othe hose that comes from my intake manifold and my dist timing is off now but when its started my timing was right and sorry that this is so long.

Check for fault codes first. When you went up in the mountains the controller corrected fuel enrichment for the lack of atmosphereic pressure, it is possible it has not relearned, this is not the first post I have seen for the same problem.
Be sure you have 16-20" vacuum to the baro read solenoid and from the baro to the Map sensor at idle.
Turn the key on/off on/off on and the power loss/check engine light will start to flash, count the light flash's,these are the codes.
Example code 34 you will get 3 long flash's,then 4 shorter flash's.
The controller will start with the lowest #ed codes and work up to the higher #'s and it will end with code 55 (end of message)
Repeat the process if you have to until you get the hang of it.
Post any codes that are present.

MiniMopar Resources. Codes and how to check them. sounds like a code 13 which is vacuum line to the map. Donovan's Dodge Garage has vacuum diagrams.

I began having the same problem today. Seems as if the ASD is kicking in around 2000rpm if I punch the gas. Slower acceleration will get the revs higher.
The code I am getting is 14 (map voltage less then 0.16v/over 4.96v)
Just switched the Hall Effect sensor and TPS just in case. The car also sometimes dies at low rpms. Vac line to the baro is still connected, if anyone has any ideas it would help me out alot also. If I correct the problem Ill let you know.

Well, I solved my problem. When I made up the harness for my car I ran the three wires from the MAP under the dash so as to make it easy to add a zener diode or for testing. After digging out these wires I noticed the tape on the ends looked banged up. After retaping them the car runs beautifully.

Either the sensor wire was being shorted to ground or to the 5v signal. I would suggest hooking a volt meter to the wires too see what is happening.
Through trial and error you will find one wire is ground, one is +5v and one is the sensor output. With the engine off and ignition on, You should see around 2.5v or so (if its a turbo map sensor). Engine at idle is closer to 0.5-1v, at full boost around 4-4.5v. If you are seeing numbers way off this check there are no shorts, otherwise the map may be defective.

Hopefully this will help you solve your problem

Every time you start the vehicle,(TBI and MPFI)when the key is swept past the "on" position the controller updates barometric pressure,on the turbo vehicles during steady cruising,no load conditions the controller will "block" vacuum to the Map sensor and update again. The only way you can see what the controller is seeing for baro is to connect a scan tool.
If vacuum to the baro and baro to map is correct, check your vacuum line routing and be sure all lines are tight and secure. If the plastic vacuum harness is still present be sure that none of the lines are cracked or broken, especially behind the valve cover. If they are correct and there are no codes present fuel pressure will be the next thing to check.

Sounds like fuel starvation and/or faulty ignition wires/cap/rotor to me. Unless the vacuum line to the MAP sensor is fubar, this won't prevent the engine from going past 2000 RPM.

I really don't think this is a vacuum line issue.
