Okay 85 Daytona Turbo with code 52. I am 2 for 2 on this forum so far. Not bad for a non car guy. The car is in near perfect shape. The old motor threw a rod about 2 years ago, so the mech. put in a long block..(I hope that is right)..It was one that they put all the old parts back on..which has been a nightmare replacing them one at a time.

Now, I have no clue as to what to do to fix 52. Like I mentioned before. o2 sensor is fairly new. Plugs are new as well. The only problem I am seeing is when coming to a stop, the car seems to start to idle rough, but then evens out after a couple seconds. Other than that...I am open for suggestions.

Test fuel pressure.
Check vacuum lines to the map sensor.

I seem to remember the vacuum lines were cheap black pieces of crap. I think my son changed a few. I will check tomorrow. Is there a picture somewhere that would show me a view of which one goes to map sensor? I looked at a schematic and that just hurt my head.

The possibilities for code 52 (rich exhaust indication) are,
Cam Timing, Ignition Timing, Engine Sealing/Vacuum Leak,Misrouted Vacuum Lines (causing low vacuum to baro/map) High Fuel Pressure,Leaking Fuel Pressure Regulator,Leaking Fuel Injector(s),Map/Coolant/Air Charge(if equipped) Sensors out of range, faulty O2 Sensor, Faulty Controller.
Map and FPR recieve vacuum from a manifold vacuum source,vacuum must be 16-20 "HG at idle.
Chrysler had problems with the LM mounted Map sensor vacuum line with moisture freezing in the line.

Trust me, a picture of the engine bay to how your the vacuum lines will just make your head hurts more.

Just check one line at a time.

Here is some info so you can start checking basics.
To verify that you are working on a hard fault or have corrected the problem connect a digital voltmeter into the O2 signal line and watch the voltage, the voltage should cross above and below .450 volts, if this is not a heated O2 sensor bring the rpm up and watch the voltage,non heated O2 sensors cool down at prolonged idle and the system will return to an open loop program.
To check Cam Timing bring #1 cylinder to TDC on a compression stroke and align the timing mark on the bellhousing with 0,remove the access plug in the upper timing cover and look thru, the slot in the Cam Sprocket should be at 12 o'clock with the centerline of the cylinder head.
