I've been trying to chase down a problem and have had no luck. I've gone through everything four times and I'm running out of ideas. The problem is that I orderd a Stage 5 ECU, 3bar MAP sensor, and +40's, and when I put it together it will not run very well at all. It rolls black smoke out of the tailpipe, misses terribly, and cant even rev very high. I've gone over ever thing I can think of. I've chased down every ground, every power, and anything else I can think of. I've had Cindy send me another ECU and it does the same thing. The worse thing is that it's it throws no codes. The other day I was thinking the only think else it could be was the injectors might be wrong. So today I pulled the fuel rail off and checked the part numbers. There are two part numbers on the injector, one is a seven digit number and the other is a four digit number. The seven digit number is right, but I have two sets of four digit numbers. I looked at my old stock injectors and thoes numbers are all the same. It might not matter, but I'm trying everything I can.

One only other thing that changed was that the speed sensor wires broke off from the plug. I don't think that it would cause anything, but I'm not sure. Thanks!!

year model and mods? 2.5 ? try plugging in a 2 bar sensor and see what happens...
Did you rewire for the 3bar sensor? what are you getting voltage at idle at the map? same for engine off.

The car is a 85 GLH that has been rewired with an 87 Daytona harness. It has a 2.2 with stock turbo, volvo intercooler, three in exhaust, and compleatly gutted. The car ran GREAT on 13 pounds of boost, I just wanted to run 20! I plugged in my old 2bar that worked great, and it does the same thing. I can't get it to idle to get a voltage there, but I can get the engine off voltage when I get off if it stops raining. As far as rewiring for the 3bar, I just called Cindy and she said to split the side of the connector to match the 3bar and plug it in. Cindy has been great, she even sent me a new computer but it did the same thing. I replaced the power computer and it still did the same thing. I'm about ready to set it on fire!!!

tried going back to stock to see in case you burned up a piston- do a compression test.

Well, I got out there to check the voltage with switch on and got 1.64-1.61 volts at o vac. I don't think I've hurt anything inside the motor becouse it hasen't ran but maybe a minute or 1.5. The whole time its running smoke rolls out the tailpipe. I just can't seem to do anything to fix it.

Double check your cam timing:

DDG- Quick and easy timing belt check

also, you still have the baro solenoid hooked up?

pull the fuel rail and check for a stuck injector and for spary pattern its possible you might have an injector gone bad

along those lines, it vould be a bad fuel pressure regulator- pull the vacuum line at the regulator to see if gas comes out.

Make sure all the wires to the 3bar are right. You can just plug a normal T2 stock or stage 2 computer in to check it. I always use a GLHS computer. I run the same 87 setup in my omni. It should run and idle almost perfect on the other one. I honestly think the computer(s) are junk. I have a friend with the same problem with a FWD Stage5. They need to get those things fixed. Im not by any means bashing Cindy, I love her products, but TU computers seem to have a better rep if you ask me.

oh and the voltage seems right for a 3bar at ambient. So i am guessing the wiring is right.

how would you know? were you the one that actually got one?

I've got another fpr, I think I'm going to try that. I just couldn't understand why it would go bad if I didn't mess with it. All I changed was the MAP, injectors, and LM. Another thing about the fpr is that its a pain to get off! I don't have a stock computer becouse Cindy said she didn't have another '87 Daytona TII computer and that it could be weeks before I got it. So I sent mine. I would love to plug in one just to see if that's what's causing it...

Make sure you actually have a vacumm signal to the MAP sensor. If no vacumm is present, the computer will think your motor is under a "Load" and enrich mixture.

I swapped out fpr's, and it doesen't help. I'm borrowing a friends fuel pressure tester and I'm going to check it this week. Maybe that's going to show something.
