basically more boost is more air
more air needs more fuel

and no point in trying to train my right foot, seems every time I try is when some one in a import pulls beside me and laughfs at my rusty car and I have to show him his place

Im kind of experimenting with fuel economy right now. Im trying to figure out if its more fuel efficient to accelerate to cruising speed slowly, and taking longer to get to cruise, or to accelerate quicker and get to cruising speed much sooner.

I also started a fuel log at ecomodder.com (click either)

look at it this way, even under boost. You have to be getting better mileage than a V8.

fuel mileage is good until you get into boost. One thing I havent seen anyone make mention, is that for each psi of boost you make, your fuel pressure is going to go up 1psi (on a 1:1 stock FPR) so if your running 13psi boost your already consuming 20% more fuel then take into effect the RPM/comp programming for injectors etc....

My buddy gets 26MPG in his '87 firebird TPI 350 / T56 6 speed conversion with a 3.73 rear end on the highway at 70MPH

My wifes '95 Volvo 940 Turbo 2.3 Litre 4 speed auto 3.73 rear end get 23 MPG on the highway at 70 MPH

V8's do not always get worse mileage. I'm sure aerodynamics are a big factor in my comparison above but Turbo cars really do get bad mileage, especially on a 940 volvo that has a tiny 13G like our cars - with the MBC on the car the thing practically lives in boost all the time.

Hard to compare those cars. You're comparing a bullet to a brick. By the way, does your wife's car need a tuneup? I've got the 850 model one yr newer, larger engine, auto, etc...and I get 26-28 highway ranging from 65-85avgs. I got no less than 22-24 on an entire tank of city driving. The great thing about these cars are they're just consistent and reliable.

Ive seen over 30 highway in a Lincoln mark viii. Thats a 3800lb car empty with a dohc 4.6l v8. The biggest factors are engine tune, and driving habits.

A 940 has the old 4 cylinder 8V red block whereas you have the much newer designed 5 cylinder 20V white block - much more efficient engine IMO. My wife drives that car pretty hard too

I am not ignorant, nor do I lack a calculator. I am mathematically inclined. I said that to be a smart ass. My PDA has a couple very good conversion programs, so I could very easily enter a few parameters, hit enter and come up with the result on my own.
