I'm not sure if anyone here is familar with what I'm talking about, but I bought one of the Robolab kits for an engineering class and since then have thought alot about using it for a datalogger/"event activation" device. The "brain" on these units has 3 inputs and 3 outputs, it can record activities (voltage, temp, pressure, pretty much any gauge) with intervals as small as 1/1000 of a second, possibly smaller need to look into it. You can download the recorded info to a computer using a infrared tower on your computer, it will download onto the computer in very easy to read graphs the can easily be compared and manipulated. The brain can also be programmed to trigger the outputs when a certain input event is met. The programming is extremely easy(similar to C++ but using all icons), best of all you can get the brain for under $100, I figured it can be used to monitor the O2 and kick on extra injectors or an intercooler sprayer etc. Could also monitor boost pressure, intake temp, IC inlet vs outlet temp, all kinds of things. So what do you guys think? Think people would really look at me weird when I had a lego brain hooked up to the car?

C'mon you wusses, I know someone out there has some experience with this, I'm not the only lego nerd here! At least tell me it sounds like a bad idea so I wont spend countless hours hooking legos up to my car , d a m n, I guess I am going crazy, I need to quit doing so much homework and work on my car.

I thought about it, but I'd rather get a microprocessor for cheaper and build my own programming (of course with the help of my electronically genius friend!)

But I'd have to look into that Lego thing, I'm a lego freak too, I built an auto tranny mock-up for class a few years ago....

yeah there probably are cheaper routes to go on it, but I already have the completes set and all the software so I figured I might as well use it.

Hey, this doesn't sound like a bad idea. I love using things for "other than its intended purpose". It would work great in a sleeper car.

Curious Onlooker: "What is that?"
Sleeper Owner: "Oh that? My kids just left their Lego in the car".

I would like more info on this myself. If you wanted some help developing an application for this, count me in.
