IIRC there are some mods you have to do to run the MS-II extra code. but i dont know what they are. even asked on the forums but havent gotten an answer. I know they run some things off of different pins and the like, and i want to keep my EDIS and a few other things

Simplicity? Mounting a 36 tooth wheel DEAD center on the crank pulley, and then hanging a VR sensor within a couple thousandths of an inch away from that isn't what I'd call simplicity. I helped get our HEP signal supported for REAL Simplicity. There's nothing simpler than just hooking up to the existing components and getting MORE data than a 36-1 wheel would give you. You can't run coil on plug with EDIS, and you can't run single coil with EDIS either.
Since you plan to keep your EDIS, you don't have to change anything when you upgrade to MSII, hardware wise. The pins for that did not change.

Actually i found mounting the sensor and wheel easy *shrug* a large C-visegrip clamp and whatnot once i got the sensor mounted and ive been good to go.
(i dont have the 12v, and the 24v dizzy is different. I already have a MS-II, but wanted to run the Extra, not the regular code)
And arguably you can run CoP, in a wasted spark manner, you'd wire 2 coils for each of the paired cylinders, essentially having 1 coil per cylinder. (just for arguments sake )

Yeah, COP is nice. You don't have to wonder if you have the best spark plug wires or not. Well, that is, unless you are running 4 '91+ coils, heh. That'd be a Chevy way of doing COP.. Unlike wasted spark, you're only firing the plug when it's needed, so you get more dwell time at higher RPM's, and the plugs don't wear out as fast as they do in wasted spark. Not to mention the cool factor of COP..

You are correct.
MS2-Extra EDIS Manual
Not positive but I believe that's the only thing you'll need to modify.
The rest of the manual is MS2/Extra Manual Index

Good thing you don't want spark cut launch control, because you can't with EDIS. You can do software table switching quite easy (ie, switch tables when over XX% throttle, or when over XXXXRPM), a manual switch for table switching can be a bit difficult:

You'll have to solder a wire on to the MS2 daughterboard, that yellow one is the table switching wire. It's the only available pin for table switching.

yich, dont know if i trust myself to do that soldering... anyways, the table switching wasnt the real motivation for MS-II/Ex code, mainly the launch control.
On the EDIS part though, the "mods" are to enable the VR input to act as a falling edge? (removing C30 and replacing a resistor) other than that, everything else is normal?

I don't have one handy, sorry. Guidsm posted the VEX of the factory spark curve. I recommend importing that and go from there. The spark curve is the hard part, and the important part to not get wrong. Fuel, you can always start pig rich and back off from there.
