I just installed new battery cables for the first time. I found some battery cables that had the right length and terminals at Checker Auto. I had to cut the ends off and splice on the starter connector for the + cable, and cut the end off and splice the - cable into the main engine ground.

Soldering battery cables is a PITA! My butane solder torch was useless. Finally, my brother and I used a propane torch, lots of flux, and some small diameter copper pipe to make the splices, and finished it off with some really big heatshrink. I also put some high temp shielding (asbestos fabric?) on the + cable so it would burn or melt. They look really good; it turned out a lot better than I thought.

Is it still possible to get new OEM battery cables from Mopar?? I should have looked into that first. If you have any tips on installing battery cables, please share. I have a few more cars I'd like to do.

I found some part #s for you, but some stuff has gone NS1. I would suggest calling your local dealer to confirm the part #s, some may have subbed out to newer #s and still be available. I hope this helps you out.

1985:
L Body = Auto trans: (+) cable = 4331488
L Body = Manual trans: (+) cable = 4331928

1987:
G Body = Auto trans: (+) cable = 4400895
G Body = Manual trans: (+) cable = 4400896

1985 & 1987:
L & G Body (-) Cable: 4304678 (Its listed as a Repair???)
