ok well i have this 87 dodge shadow es conv to T2. Wiring went down some time finally fixed it been having this prob a few times finally figured it out but still stuck.

Ok here it is the car runs and then while i let it idle it suddenly just dies. The thing i noticed is if i unplugged the 2 connectors that go to the halls effect and plug it back in it starts. and when my dad tries to adjust the idle (since it will die if i dont keep it reved a little) it wont adjust. but when it died that time i just did the same thing with the connectors and now it starts again. just like some input from you guys on what i should do. The Halls effect was an after market part from orileys i beleive

Turn the ignition key on/off, on/off, on.
The check engine light will start to flash.
All fault codes are 2 digit numbers. The light will flash the first digit then the second digit then move to the next fault code if any are present.
The first digit flashes will be longer and slower then a slight pause and the second digit which will be shorter slightly quicker flashes.
Example, Code 24 will be 2 long slow flashes followed by 4 shorter quicker flashes.
The last code you will recieve is code 55 which is "end of message" meaning the controller is done communicating.
Retrieve the codes, write them down and clear the codes(battery disconnect) then run the vehicle until the stalling/no start occurs then recheck the codes. When the car will not restart crank the engine for 10 seconds before rechecking the codes.
You may have set fault codes by disconnecting electrical components so we need to be sure we are chasing real codes that is why you clear and run again until the problem occurs then recheck.
Post back what you find.
FYI, you will have a code 12 in memory after the battery is disconnected, that is normal.

22, Coolant Temp Sensor Voltage High/Low
23, Charge Temp Sensor Voltage High/Low
24, Throttle Position Sensor Voltage High/Low
54, Distributor Sync Pickup Circuit

Did you clear the codes, check to be sure they cleared and then run the vehicle until the condition returned?
Also when you replaced the HEP did you bend the wiring down the side of the distributor as the factory had it? If so internal damage to the wiring may have occured. Did you also check connector integrity, no corrosion on terminals, tight fit between connector ends, etc.

Ok i dont know how to really reset the codes. But what i did so far was check the TPS with the ohm meter and it had a smooth transaction of resistance from 1-3 and 3-1, when we replace the HEP we didnt bend it down or anything, wire connects are good and tight with no corrosion. Dont know if this might cause it but i have a stage 5 cal from FWD but havnt changed my MAP yet since my dad lost my 3 bar i bought from them . But i do still have my Stage 3 cal from them that takes the 2bar map

Put the Stage 3 back in until you guys find the 3BAR.
You'll have the **battery disconnected when making this ECU change so the **codes will be cleared ... except for 12 & 55 if all is well.

Sounds as if your problem is related to the code 54 but....
Put the correct controller back in, if the problem still exists recheck for codes and post back.

Last night my dad went ahead and got a new hep, Now the car runs good it starts up at least. Took your advice with the 3 bar, looked all over the house for it and found it. Now the car works good as hell just need to a little timing adjustments. atleast it will try to stay on now instead of me having to gas it all the time. but i guess 400 rpms isnt good enough to stall alive.
