I've seen worse. Looks like maybe you're getting excess oil in the combustion chambers. That would seem to match the oil in the piping. It very well could be your turbo seals are leaking internally.

I don't think we verified, but this is the engine in your '87 Shadow right? '87 would have a slider cam and they are noisy, especially if they have any wear to them. I wouldn't worry about that too much if you're sure the noise is coming from the valvetrain. If it gets worse you may want to consider swapping to a roller cam setup.

The head was changed out to a roller cam back in the day i got one from FWD i think it was a taft stage 3 cam with lifters and rollers. But if you guys also wanted to know dad just got done with the compression test and it came out to be 1-3-4 were 90 and 2 was at 110. The engine was just rebuilt so the car hasnt really been running but how long would it take for rings to set? or do you think they were put in wrong? the clicking noise i believe is coming from number 3's valves on the head but when i had it as a slider it mad the same noise and when i changed it to the rocker with a diff head it still was making the noise from that area

To add, this is the block that was with the shadow, pistons were replaced with forged one and T-2 rods, crank was turned at a machine shop. dont really know if its the same block uncle drove it while my dad was still in the navy and blew the engine back in 88 or 89 so they replaced it with a new one.

You sure the noise is coming from the valvetrain? Could be a wrist pin rattle. Did you use new rods or used ones?

As for the compression, did you go through the full break-in procedure? What I do is let the engine warm up on first start and set the timing. Go to an open highway and take it up to 55, then let it slow down to 35 in third gear. Do that a few times. Take it back, drain the oil, then drive it normally for about 500 miles or so. Not too much highway, no beating on it, not too much idling. If you don't get the rings to seat properly, it'll always burn oil no matter what you do. On a new rebuild you should have minimum 130 PSI across the board (although I'd expect up to 150). 90 is the wear limit for an old engine. Not good.

alright ill talk to my dad about it. The rods were the T-2 rods redone on fwd. The piston was put on the rod by the machine shop.

General rule for compression is Minimum of 100 PSI with the lowest being within 25% of the highest.

Well, since it's a rebuild it means the rings did not seat. Did you give them enough run time to do so?
