What is the normal fuel pressure these TD's run? What is a good one? I saw that Summit has one that mounts in the line directly before the Fuel Rail, for about $20.00. Is this decent?

I just installed an Auto Meter one. The test port on the fuel rail just happens to be the same as an AN flared -6 fitting(at least I'm sure it is)
Pressure, 50psi at idle. Gauge sounds like it will work.

I just bought the Autometer part #. 2180 Silver face fuel press. gauge, I can just screw it into the rail while car is off assuming I don't need an adapter, and then start it right after? No need to release pressure in the system right?

You should release the fuel pressure so you can remove the internal schrader valve then attach the gauge to the rail.

The schrader valve is just like a bicycle tire valve and you can get the removal tool anywhere bike accessories are sold.

You can also get the tool at your local auto parts store next to the tire patches, etc. Should cost maybe a buck or two.

Can I reattach the schrader valve to the rail after I'm done setting the FP, can you not still attach a gauge WITH the schrader valve still there? I ask this because I'm only going to use the gauge when I need to set the FP and the gauges are known to crack under vibration when left on the rail directly. BTW whats the inside diameter of the port since I've looked and realized an adapter is needed. Thanx!

Yes you can put the schrader valve back in when done, it is just like the valve stem on a tire.
No you cannot attach a gauge with the schrader valve in the rail, it's purpose is to stop the fuel from coming out untill it is depressed (again, like a tire).
The gauges are not known to crack, it is the rail itself. For well over a year I used the port via a line (-6 AN) and had no cracking issues. Now I am teed directly into the feed line for the main gauge and another mounted on the fpr for underhood.

Most people just leave the gauge on but if you want to remove it after setting your FPR it's no problem.

Just re-install the schrader valve and put the cap back on.
