I noticed that a few days after conneting an 85 MP ecu in my 85 Charger I've been having nothing but probs w/ the charging sytem. New battery, New alternator, New fusible links, New voltage regulator. Is it possible the logic module causing the prob? The idiot mailman slammed the ecu when it got here. I dunno ........but could it be? can the logic mod do this to the charging ? So far the stock ecu is in and the car is fine.

Yes, the LM controls the field switching in the alternator. I have a spare LM here that causes overcharging; voltage on the dash meter reads 18-20 (!) with it. With a different LM, it's fine. One of these days I need to take a look at the board in the bad one and see if I can fix it.

i think there's an old school fix for that. ive heard of guys installing a external voltage regulator and mount it to the fire wall. i think old k cars used that set up. i bet the regulator is 10$ or 15$. should be easy to wire up.

Thanks for the response fellas.

I've dismissed the theory of the logic module being bad because my car dropped the volts again, this time with the stock module. The funny part is that the car drops the volts immediatley after I floor it and continues until the battery dies. I already installed the external voltage regulator so that can't be the prob. I'll find out tomorrow when the mechanic ( ) tells me what went wrong.
