I ask because I got a SMEC computer out of an 88 T2 today. The entire engine/trans/rad...everything was gone except the computer. I checked the vin and it had an A near the middle so I'm assuming it's T2. The car was a Shelby Z. It had 87 daytona written on it, but 87s didn't have SMEC's did they?
Also, I heard that 89 was the first year that the fuel injectors weren't "gang-fired", is that right?

They're pretty much the same, yes. Cruise control may or may not work on the '88 SMEC since CC was only offered on TII cars in '89.

Right. Has to be an '88.

Yes and no. The TIV's (CSX) had SBEC's (with sequential firing)starting in '89. All others still used SMEC and batch fire until '90.

Actually, 88's did have cruise on the t-II I should know since mine does. 87 T-II did not however have cruise. As far as I know 88-89 similar enough that the car should still work fine.

The only reason cruise might not work is If the new computer didn't have the circuit for it.

Yeah my 88 has it too but it doesn't work. Prolly a simple fix but it's not like I'd use it anyways

I don't like the word weight. I bought a Daytona. If I think too much about weight I'll drive myself crazy
