Ok, please forgive me if i seem a little ricer-ish by wanting these, but i was wanting to get those LED replacement "bulbs" for 1157s.

Here's a couple examples:

Ok, now some of them say that you'll need a voltage regulator type thing for the directionals, because the LEDs use less current. Im guessing a resistor inline would work just as well? Can anyone tell me how to find what value resistor i'd need?

Secondly.. people are selling clear (white), red, and amber. For brake lights.. since I still have the red lens, do you think the white ones would work better, or go with red?

Last.. has anyone used these? Are they not worth the crap? lol

Thanks

there is ones that already have the voltage regulator build in i seen them at wallmart. but if you want you can use ohms law to find the correct value for the resistor.
V=voltage
R=resistance
I=current

R=V/I
I=V/R
V=IR
for the back i would use the white LED's they are brighter and you already have red lanses.

cool, thanks.

i was also thinking.. couldnt I measure the resistance in a standard bulb.. then measure in the LED one... then find the difference?

light emitting diodes work completely different from light bulbs. LED's dont have a filament inside that will burn out, they are illuminated by the movement of electrons in a semiconductor material. they have very little resistance and work with small amounts of current. thats why they require other circuits to step down the voltage and reduce current. there is a benefit to led's they dont ged hot like light bulbs and they will last anywhere between 10 and 15 years before burning out.

tip: if they say Chevy only, even if they look exactly the same, don't use them. I made this mistake and now have 4 led bulbs that I have no use for. All they are good for is to blow fuses.

Why would that be?

Kinda like the magic of Honda Power Steering Fluid?

Thanks for the tip!

Also be wary that your new LED bulb replacements may not light up your entire light housing. My buddy put them on his neon and from the back it only illuminated a small circle in the center of the tail light that was the size of the cluster of LED's.
