for those out there running an AFPR:
what are you using to measure your rail pressure? bought or home made?

so far the only one i priced out is a snap on unit and i am not willing to fork out 360 bucks for that. i was hoping for some other options from you boys (cheaper the better for reasonable quality)

thanks ryan

Get a fuel pressure gauge to run to the cabin. Summit or jegs should have them

If you are looking for a gauge set that will be used for diagnostics and such check out
tooltopia.com.
I buy 95% of my tools there now and I do this for a living.
They have name brand tools at 50-75% less than Snap-On, Matco etc.
Last order I placed with them was for an OTC Cylinder Leak Down Tester and a bunch of misc sockets and they were at my door in 3 days.

I am using a stainless steel protected solid state sensor purchased from digi-key. It puts out a 0.5 -4.5 V signal for 0-100 psi. I read it with my engine management system that I developed using a Atmel mega128. The cost was about $75. It has been a while, I will look for the part number and post.

Here is my website, I am not selling my unit at this time:
http://my.att.net/p/s/community.dll?...pid=372867&ck=

Here is a sensor that will work:
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...me=734-1007-ND

You will need a data logger that is able to calibrate and display the psi. A few wideband AFR systems have this feature.

Here is what I am running, comes with the pressure sensor, wires and the gauge. You can either put it in the rail or depending on your AFPR some have holes for the mounting of a pressure switch. Auto Meter 4363

all very good suggestions guys! thank you
i am still going to look into building one. i think the Schroeder female end for the gauge is the same as an A/C fitting. Not positive. Anyone know the the actual name of this fitting, and the size required for the fuel rail. I believe i can build one fairly cheap with a good quality liquid filled gauge.

I believe they stopped putting them directly on the rails about 5 years ago because the vibrations were cracking the fuel rails. If you still want to do it that way, run a hose to it and remote mount it. The down side of that is now you have more fuel lines running around your engine compartment. A sending unit to a gauge is the safest way.

Service Valve on the fuel rail is 1/4" NPT.
It is the same as the low pressure service valve on an R-12 A/C system.

I think it is an AN4. I mounted mine with a 6" hose to give it some flex.

i don't think i want to have the fuel gauge permanently mounted. just have the test gauge to set and adjust.

do you fellows find it necessary to have a fuel pressure gauge in the car at all time? i plan on running a wideband and EGT and think its more that enough info to watch and tell if you are leaning out.

Same thing I did except With a longer hose, and mounted the guage on my drivers strut tower. Got the gauge from FWD performance and used the line/fittings from my nitrous kit I have yet to install, a custom bracket made with the help of my stepfather, works great.
Anyway the only reason I even installed the gauge was cause of the fact my scharder valve was leaking and my two spare rails had garbage valves too.
If you don't plan on adjusting you fuel pressure alot or ever just go with a normal pressure test kit but for conveince a permanent mount guage is the way to go. Either way the cost is about the same

This is how mine is, once I get it fully tuned I will probably remove it for safety.

Yes also very curious how you hooked that up
An electrical indash gauge is what I have planned for the tona.
Especially when I start playing with the fuel presssure.
Between egt, wideband, and fuel pressure gauge I should be pretty safe
