my 89 chrysler daytona is doing a CHUGGING kinda thing.. it goes into this little pissy fit sometime.. so ,i changed my air filter, fuel filter and plugs and wires.. it still did it.. so i went to the chrysler dealer near me and they said that it could be my TPS, O2 sensor, or my MAP sensor... now, the bastards want $70 just to test it.. and i'm like... NO THANKS... so, i'm thinking i'll just change each one of those things they mentioned.. but first i'm doing the MAP sensor. so, what i'm wondering is... anyone know what the chugging is or can someone tell me is there a difference in MAP sensors for my car.. like, could i use a MAP from another tona but like... an 88 or does it have to be a 89 4 cyl. 2.5L... thanks!

you can use a map sensor from another turbo car as long as it fits into your plug...good luck

Youre car has a SMEC, combining the logic and power module into one. It's under the hood on the left side, behind the headlight. You'll see your intake hose connect to it.

MAP sensor is bolted to the passenger side strut tower.

Somebody with more tech knowledge please correct me but I thought a bum Map was pretty likely to throw a code. I'm assuming you don't have an a/f gause installed. If you do, then comparing lean read to throttle response at partial throttle will indicate whether prob is more likely TPS or O2. My son's T1 stumbles a bit at partial throttle. The a/f shows lean for more than a second before the fuel responds (good fuel pump and filter). Disconnected the six way connector at the throttle body and found a lot of corrosion and a missing blade on the male end. It's so easy to pull the connector apart and look that I'd say, take a look.

"Non-turbo" Uh-oh, you've exceeded my limited knowledge. If you don't get a knowledgeable response by tonight, I'll look in a Haynes manual for the answer. Good luck.

Okay, if you believe the Haynes manual yes you have a 6 way connector. The 6 way is actually the back end of the lines from the tps and ais. There only appear to be 5 lines going into the 6 way (2 from Ais and 3 from the Tps). Take a look at the Tps, it's on the top of the throttle body and kind of looks like a coil of wire. The wires are hooked to the Tps with clips. Clean up the connections and see if it helps.
