I'd like to poll the TD community and ask where your TD sweet spot is. By sweet spot I mean, the point where all your timing, fuel, and everything else comes together and you really feel the power kicking in.

Include your basic configuration/mods so we all know what you are running.

For me:

The sweet spot comes on really good at about 4,500 RPM, WOT, and goes to redline which is about 6,500RPM. Starting at about 4,500RPM and at WOT, I can feel a very noticable additional surge of power till I hit about 6,500RPM. Its enough to make you grin.

1987 GLHS
MP stage 2 computer @ 14PSI max
1984 G head long block (stock)
1989 TBI roller cam
Everything else is bone stock.

What's your story?

Hmm, lets see.

I'd say i get a decent pull from 2k to about 4200RPM in 2-4th. 1st rips, when i launch i cant keep traction, stupid high gearing. 3rd gear burnouts are fun.

2.2 TBI A525
Only mods are
15* on the timing
one tooth on the cam gear
K&N Drop in
2" Manifold back no cat.

Im getting my exhaust replaced this weekend in preparation for my turbo swap.

2.5" Mani back no cat

then i might see a slight bit of change idk.

Well my car makes 200HP at 3500RPM and climbs to 540HP by 5300RPM. So it gains 340HP in less than 2000RPM so thats my sweet spot

Well you know what!

That's sick.

I'd love to have a Super 60.

My Horizon is going to be called "Project Super 88"

Aw, well still. It's sick.

I saw one guy with a 60 running 26psi, he said he could pull 29 or so out of it. Pretty sure he had it clipped though.

Super60omni...whats it take to make 500+ HP and what type of tranny can take that kind of power?

RoachJuice...Can you provide a little more details like NickSkates4lyfe please.

If you got bragging rights, brag!

7500... Simply because I couldn't go there with the 8valve motor.. So it's SWEET to be able to go there.. If I swapped in some better cams, Crane18's perhaps.. I'd be sweet at 8250.. ;)

A lot of practice, but once you find the right recipe that works you use it! But basicly.... a long rod 2.2, 35R, and a lil spray net me 540. And this motor is BULLETPROOF! As far as the tranny, I run a 520/555 hybrid with a moly plate and a OBX. TU purple clutch and stock auto omni axles. Axles let go sometimes on slicks but I have like 10 so I really dont care. The car makes 600FT/LBS TQ and tranny holds on so far. Cliff R. knows my car and even he is suprised the tranny hangs.

Do a search for GLHS #065 and you will see all the details and vids.

My daytona doesn't have a sweet spot. With the n/a torque converter it was a complete dog off the line. With gouges in 2 of the cylinder walls it had little power everywhere. Can't forget the head being warped .016" in the middle. Still ran 15psi with no intercooler though. Had a fel pro headgasket.... that somehow wasn't blown.

yea, my n/a carb'd 84 omni likes the 2500-4000 rpm area lol, pulling all its 84HP outta there lol... man the funny part is, ive had my speedo all the way back around to the 5 in the thing (its a 85mph speedo) and my tach was reading around 6K. if im correct, back to the 5 is about 140? nobody believes me that my 84HP was rolling down the highway doing 140mph, actually i can hardly believe it, and i was driving...

Is this thread even PG13? LOL

Seriously though...my '88 Shelby Z: 3500-5000 will ALWAYS put a smile on your face!

FWD S5 cal(with supporting mods, sometimes I run a Shel-Game cal as well)
3" exhaust WITH cat/muffler
22#'s boost
FMIC
drop-in K&N
Devil's Own meth injection
A555/520 hybrid W/OBX and moly plate
TU race lightened flywheel, Purple PP 6-puck clutch

I think that covers the major stuff
