Give Paul Velliky a shout. I haven't got a chance to use mine yet but all reports from others have been great. He has awsome customer service and will answer all your questions.

That statement is untrue.
You should e-mail Gary directly if that is what you want.

From Calibration Innovations Web Site:
Q: What if I want to run higher boost then the computer is programmed for? Will I have problems with over boost like I do on a S60 computer?

A: This calibration can not add fuel if you increase the boost over the set amount. Once you take control of the boost you will need to keep an eye on your EGT’s for high temperatures. You do not have to worry about over boost with the SS calibration it has been turned off. I do not recommend this to anyone who isn’t a serious tuner.

Bummer if you want to run higher boost, heck you might as well not get one if that is the case and go with a Cartech Rising Rate Regulator, or extra injectors.

What do you mean FWD sells generic ones? Yes we have "standard cals" that we sell a lot of, but for example we have several versions of a cal depending on a persons set-up. For instance. I think we have about 75 different cals just for the 87 t-2 stuff. Example, we recently sent Neil Gierach a standard 87 s5 cal. He said he needed more fuel, we sent another cal with a different fuel set-up, and he is really happy with the new cal he got. Also when the computers came from ND Performance, Neil Emiro was the first to do many new calibrations and since we took over in 2000, FWD Performance was the first to introduce 90-91 2.5 cals, first to introduce 3 bar cals for the turbo 3 (R/T) and now we offer cals that have multiple boost levels, adjustable fuel and spark trims plus a real time data stream to an inside the cockpit control box.
I don't think anyone else has anything "NEW' that we or Neil hadn't already pioneered. We also back up our cals with a warranty and have gone out of our way to help a person who claimed they were having trouble with the computer only to find out it was a problem with their car, and NOT the computer.
Now having said that, EVERY car does not need a "special" cal. Most cars don't, and we have cals for almost every configuartion, and do new ones on a one off basis, (like Turbodave/neon and a 72 psi injector cal for his 16v/2.4 motor) but we do take a very "long" time to do those as we can only devote a few hours a month to that R&D.
Also, some requests are not viable. For example, someone wants a cal that gives 25 pounds of boost but they want to use stock injectors, and a stock map sensor, because they don't want to buy new injectors or a 3 bar map sensor. Or how about the person that want's us to give him a cal that gives 30 psi of boost but he is going to use it on his 190,000 mile STOCK 2.5, There are some things we won't do.
I also don't think there is any vendor that has a selection that even comes close to the variety of choices we provide. We have lots more than what is listed in the on-line catalog, and if people have a question, they should try and call first.
Anyway, sorry about the rant...but I thought the phrase "generic" was very misleading.
Thanks,
Cindy

Wow, very informative Cindy. Thanks for the info. That really clears ALOT of things up for me. There was some serious misinformation going around.
I have one more question for you Cindy. If I socket my own SMEC, can you send just a ROM to me? I'm sure that'd save on shipping and such.

Brian,
If you have any specific questions like above, please direct them to my work email at
sales8755@fwdperformance.com and I will email you back.
I hate to hijack someone's thread and take up a lot of bandwidth answering business email on a public forum if possible.
Thanks,
Cindy

Not a bummer, we can adjust anything to your liking(within reason). The SS cal is set up for 18-21 of boost as our standard cal that fits alot of the Turbo Dodge community. We can set boost levels higher for the more serious racer. We have done many cals for different needs.

We are currently testing 87 cals, and should have them on the market real soon. January we will be offering some real interesting setups for 87-89 cars, so stay tuned!

Thanks

I read something about some company's cal that will light the check engine light while the computer is retarding timing (due to knock sensor activity). Sounded like an awesome idea, who all offers that feature?

I think that was Rob Maxon's Dual cal. He had a dual twister and such that had the check engine light flash when detonation was detected.

FWD's adjustable stuff is the BOMB! When it hits the masses everyone with a setup that needs a bit of tweaking will love it.

Sorry for the hijack. Thought it was relevant.
