fix for irratic fuel pressure?

It seems that the S/C is well known for having fuel starvation issues when the fuel starts to get down to 1/4 tank or so.
Is there an easy-ish way to fix this without stopping for fuel?
I'm accustomed to driving long distances without stopping and would like to have a bit more confidence in the little car with less than half tank.
Any ideas?

Sounds like your pump holder unit is bent up a bit off the bottom of the tank.
