Interesting...

So, if you have spark the power module is prob Ok?
Gotta troubleshoot Mom-in-laws TurboTuna tonight, I'll take the timing light and the fuel pressure tester.

I would think, that its possible for just part of the power module to go bad, while other parts of it still work. I couldnt say for sure though, as I have never taken apart. Anyone know for sure?

has it sat with gas in it all this time???
fuel filter could be gummed up along with every other fuel component.
just a thought. listen for the pump to whine when key is turned on, and use a fuel press. gauge. good luck.
get it running, but dont drive it lol.. ha ha ha....
very few cars like that one left, let alone that kind of condition.
my mom had one and it got destroyed by a big rig. her significant other died, but she survived. they were rear ended, on the side of the freeway due to a bad dist. pickup. go figure.

Sorry for the delay guys, we dropped the tank, and the entire inside of the tank kinda... melted into goo. Syphoned the gas out, which smelled odd but maintained its normal color. We got a full pump assembly, new tank, relay, filter, but we're having trouble finding a new fuel guage sending unit assembly. Any idea (besides Advanced Auto) where to get the fuel guage sending unit?

As far as the car... its a Shelby Z (with the C/S performance package obviously), 86, manual windows, louvers on the back window, defrost, cassette, manual locks (I think), it's an automatic. It has the blood pressure pump in the driver's seat for the lumbar support. It has alot more bells and whistles but I haven't really taken the time to look closely. The interior still has the new car smell, and is virgin for lack of a better word, same for the paintjob which is a shiny grey (I never followed any Dodges so I'm lost for the appropriate name of the paintjob). It's a gorgeous car, all original, still hasn't had any recalls applied to it. I'd like to make it into a tuner, but we don't know yet. It's practically antique and it's in mint condition (with the obvious exception of the fuel tank.

And I just want to thank everyone for the help, you're a great bunch of guys. When stuff mellows out at my new job I'll take some time and get some photos of it. THANKS AGAIN!

Respectfully,
DM

You don't take a 1600 mile vintage example of a Daytona C/S and make a frickin' "tuner" out of it for christ sake. Get it running and sell it to someone who would appreciate it for what it is.

So who wants to buy it then? And how much would they pay?

If it was only the purchase price when it was first bought, it would be more worthwhile for me to run it and do as I please.

I don't see anyone paying $30k for a Daytona C/S... let alone the sticker price from 1986.

But does anyone know where I could get the fuel sending unit that goes in the gas tank? I would really apprecriate it if someone could point me in the right direction. Advanced Auto Parts ordered what they thought was the correct part, turns out it wasn't. Is there anyplace... online or otherwise where I could get one?

Thanks,
DM

The sending unit probably supercedes to the later sending unit used through at least the 1989 model year. As said above a Dodge dealer would be your best bet (Although the last one I bought was around $90) or you could possibly get it from a local NAPA store. We never have much luck getting any parts from Advance. They don't have a clue. Let us know if you find one.

Well I found the fuel float... part number FG64A from Spectra Premium Industries. Advance ordered me FG24A which is essentially the skeleton for the fuel pump side of things. FG64A is the float sender in its entirety. Their website is: http://www.spectrapremium.com/

For future reference... enjoy.
